Catlin Court
Glendale's First Historic Neighborhood
By the time you receive this newsletter our nomination packet will be at the State for the 2006 Governors Honor Award for Preservation. Thanks to Delores Hickman who did all of the cutting, pasting and sorting of Catlin Courts’ file cabinet. Once I hear from the State if Catlin Court gets the award I will send out a flash bulletin so you may attend the Governor’s luncheon at the Civic Center. It will be on Friday June 16 at noon. Mark your calendars and think POSITIVE.
Those of you that will be on the tours make sure that you contact Ron Short @ 623-930-2592.
Let me introduce you to our new Board members: Dawn(outside district), Art(commercial), Russ Spencer(residential), Cheryl Szczepkowski (commercial) and Bud Zomok(residential). Our Attorney is Beth Mulcahy. She will be attending the April 10th meeting to introduce herself and finalize all our paperwork to be filed with the State.
Do to time (or lack thereof) the agendas will be posted on our website in the future. Meetings will be the second Monday of the month at 5:30pm in the City Hall B-2 room. All of your Board members have requested that everyone show up so they may meet you and find out what it is you want for the District.
At our May meeting Glendale P.D. will be giving a presentation on gangs and graffiti. I hope to schedule one or two guest speakers for every meeting. If you have any ideas or would like to share please feel free to do so. Remember the Board works for you.
Bud, Russ and Scott are working to get our website revamped and updated. They will be reporting progress at eh April meeting. If you want to advertise or have any suggestions contact them directly. We need pictures, so if you have any photos of our events please pass them on as well. Joan Norton has volunteered to be our official photographer. With everyone pitching we should look really impressive on the web.
We still have vacancies for our 2 committees. If you would like to volunteer and meet your neighbors think about signing up. The first project for the Architect Committee will be to do a complete assessment of all the properties. This will be a big undertaking but if everyone does one street the job will be fun and not take much time.
The first event for the Event Committee will be the Front Porch Festival. If you have a knack for special events or party planning we need your help.
